Heidelbeer Topfen Schokolade Cupcake

with 2 comments

Home, February 2011 in Vienna, Austria

Cupcakes became very popular this year in Vienna. Many pastry shops, even some traditional Viennese Konditorei start to display these colorful little sweet things in their windows.

I got this one in Cup Cakes, a lovely cake shop where you feel the passion of the owner/cake designer immediately after entering. It’s with Heidelbeer (European blueberry) -Topfen cream and chocolate cake.

Blühendes Konfekt, April 2009 in Vienna, Austria

Blühendes Konfekt, blooming confection, is a small handmade chocolaterie near the big shopping street Mariahilfer Straße in Vienna.

Fresh flowers, fruits and nuts. Together with chocolate, they create such an exquisite vision and the fragrance of an April garden.

*Updated on November 29th:
I regret that I couldn’t find any words to describe this lovely looking dessert. The truth is, the gentleman of our table was so attentive and served us so much wine that I can’t remember anymore how the dessert tasted…

Deep Fried Mars Bar

with one comment

The Lion Rampant Pub, November 2008 in Vienna, Austria

The first time when I heard my Sottish friend said that in Scotland people fry chocolate bars and sell them in shops, I had to ask her three times to make sure that she wasn’t kidding me.

In Scotland people fry Mars bars in a type of batter commonly used for deep frying fish (as in fish and chips), which was for me hard to imagine (not to mention if it’s healthy or even tasty). This artistically furnished and definitely very Scottish pub serve a deep fried Mars bar in puff paste and ice cream. And it’s actually quite good!
